TVS Supply Chain Solutions partners with TNSDC and LSC to promote Skill Development program in Tamil Nadu

– To employ 1000 more people in Tamil Nadu in the next two years
Chennai, 03rd December, 2019: TVS Supply Chain Solutions (TVS SCS – erstwhile known as TVS Logistics) today announced that it has joined hands with Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC) and Logistics Sector Skill Council (LSC) to help in upgrading the skill levels of youth in Tamil Nadu. TVS SCS will play a key role in implementing the initiatives of the Government to increase the skill levels of the young labour community and making them readily employable. The company, in association with LSC this year, has trained over 1600 people under ‘Recognition of Prior Learning’ scheme and is looking to upgrade the skill levels of at least another 10,000 by next year.

Lauding the initiative of the Tamil Nadu Government, Mr. R. Dinesh, Managing Director, TVS SCS, said, “Government’s focus on Skill Development has come in at the right time as Logistics sector in India is undergoing an unprecedented transformation, fuelled by innovations in IT and digitisation. The improvement is already being seen in operational efficiency due to data enabled intelligence and tracking of inventory with real-time data updates. Therefore, imparting and upgrading to the right skill levels would help the industry immensely.”

Mr. R. Dinesh, further added, “TVS SCS has around 6500 skilled work force in Tamil Nadu and are proactively working towards recruiting another 1000 in the next two years’ time through this program. TVS SCS is looking forward to contribute in both people recruitment as well as in upskilling the talent, which is the key requirement of industries.”

Leading by example, TVS SCS has ensured that its’ labour work force has undergone formal certification program run by LSC for reskilling/upskilling, using the standards set by the LSC. TVS SCS is also closely supporting LSC in creating contents and help in fixing qualification criteria for courses and National Occupation Standards for Warehouse Management.
